Sampling equipment

An analysis starts with a sample.

Sampling kits for seawater, freshwater, soil and air, and water filtration equipment (triple pump, StickPump, Yellow Submarine): LDgenX equips your environmental DNA campaigns.

Sampling equipment

Your scientific need

Everything starts in the field.

Before a campaign, share the environment studied, the objectives and the field constraints. This information helps discuss the equipment and the sampling strategy.

Sampling kits

A kit for every environment.

A kit for every environment.

LDgenX prepares sampling kits suited to the environment you study. Their contents are agreed with the team according to your protocol and planned analyses.

Seawater

For sampling at sea, in ports and estuaries.

Freshwater

For rivers, lakes, ponds and wetlands.

Soil

For agricultural, forest or natural soils.

Air

For capturing the DNA present in ambient air.

The equipment

Three tools to filter in the field.

The filtration equipment we offer for environmental DNA, with its characteristics.

Closed eDNA triple pump with its three flow meters
eDNA triple pump, control panel
Waterra filtration capsules with different pore sizes

Triple pump

Three separate parallel filters with Waterra capsules.

Characteristics

  • Inlet hose size: 12 mm or 4 mm diameter
  • Maximum height between the water surface and the pump: 1.5 m with 12 mm hoses and 5 m with a 4 mm hose (model 1); 3 m with 12 mm hoses and 15 m with a 6 mm hose (model 2)
  • Effective pumping speed: 3 L/min (model 1) or 10 L/min (model 2)
  • Three integrated flow meters
  • 8-hour battery life (model 1) or 10-hour battery life (model 2), Opti Battery lithium-ion battery included
  • Pore size: 0.1 µm, 0.22 µm, 0.45 µm, 1.2 µm and 5 µm
StickPump for eDNA filtration

StickPump

Four filters operating in parallel.

Characteristics

  • Pumping rate: 40 L/min
  • Integrated flow meter
  • Makita 18 V battery (not included)
  • 20 µm or 5 µm nylon filters, 47 mm diameter
Yellow Submarine towed eDNA sampler
Yellow Submarine towed behind a boat during sampling

Yellow Submarine

Three parallel filtration channels, towed behind a boat.

Characteristics

  • Vacuum-assisted filtration; filtered volume depends on towing speed (approximately 50 L per filter in 10 minutes at 6 knots)
  • 20 µm or 5 µm nylon filters, 47 mm diameter
  • Designed to be towed behind a boat

The approaches to bring in

Preparing your campaign.

Equipment is chosen according to the environment, the question and how sampling is organised.

Your environment

Specify the matrices and the sampling conditions.

Your question

Link the field campaign to the planned analyses.

Your campaign

Discuss how sampling is organised with the scientific team.

Applications

For which projects?

  • Environmental DNA projects
  • Field sampling
  • Environmental monitoring

Your project in practice

Shared scoping. A tailored proposal.

The right equipment depends on the environment, the volumes to filter and the planned analyses: the team helps you prepare the campaign before going into the field.

To prepare the first conversation

  • Your objective and the decision it should inform
  • The context: site, environment, species or population studied
  • The samples or data already available
  • Your schedule and field constraints

What we define together

  • The scope of the service
  • The sampling strategy and the analyses
  • How results are reported
  • The schedule and the quote

Your fields of application

Genomics in your field.
